Our standards
Quality that outlasts the occasion.
Every piece we make is built to be worn every day, for the rest of a life. That shapes every decision we take.
In fine jewellery, quality is not a feature. It is the agreement between maker and wearer that this object — however small, however delicate — will not fail the moment it matters most.
At 88Facets.com, quality assurance is not a checklist we run at the end of production. It is a discipline that begins when we source a stone and ends only when the piece has been worn, returned for its first annual inspection, and confirmed to be exactly as it should be. We have spent over two decades refining what that discipline looks like in practice.
How we work
Our quality process, from stone to setting
01
Stone selection
Every diamond is examined in person before purchase. Certificates are verified against the physical stone. Stones that do not perform to our standard — regardless of their grade — are returned.
02
Design review
Before any metal is cast, the design is reviewed for structural integrity. Prong geometry, metal gauge, and setting depth are assessed for the specific stone and the client's lifestyle.
03
Production
Pieces are hand-finished by experienced setters working with a single stone at a time. We do not run batch production. Each commission receives the full attention of one craftsperson.
04
Final inspection
Every finished piece is inspected under 10× magnification. Prong integrity, surface polish, stone security, and metal finish are checked against a written standard before delivery.
"We do not release a piece until we are confident it is exactly what we would want to wear ourselves. That standard has not changed in twenty-two years."
What we guarantee
Our commitments to every client
Certified stones, always
Every diamond we set — natural or lab-grown — carries a certificate from GIA, IGI, or HRD. We never ask a client to accept a grade on our word alone. The certificate is a fact, not a formality.
Lifetime cleaning & polish
Every piece we have ever made is eligible for complimentary cleaning, polishing, and prong inspection — indefinitely. Bring it in once a year. We will make it look as it did on the day we handed it over.
Free resizing — first year
Finger size fluctuates with temperature, season, and time. If a ring does not fit perfectly within the first twelve months, we resize it at no cost, with no questions asked.
Structural warranty
We stand behind the integrity of every setting we make. If a prong fails or a setting shifts under normal wear conditions within two years of purchase, we repair it at no charge.
Pre-delivery inspection report
Each piece is accompanied by a written inspection record confirming the stone identity, setting integrity, and finish grade at the point of delivery. This forms part of your ownership documentation.
Annual check-up
We recommend — and welcome — an annual visit for every piece we have made. Early detection of wear is far less costly than repair after loss. It takes twenty minutes and costs nothing.
Independent certification
The laboratories we trust
We work exclusively with stones certified by the three laboratories we consider reliable and rigorous. Each has a distinct profile; we will always explain which certificate accompanies a stone you are considering, and why.
GIA
Gemological Institute of America
The global benchmark for natural diamond grading. Conservative, consistent, and accepted by every reputable reseller and insurer worldwide.
IGI
International Gemological Institute
The leading certifier of lab-grown diamonds, and our preferred laboratory for lab-grown stones in all grades and sizes.
HRD
Hoge Raad voor Diamant, Antwerp
The European standard, rigorous and highly respected — particularly for stones sourced through Antwerp, one of the world's foremost diamond centres.
If you have a question about the quality of a piece, a concern about wear, or simply want to bring a ring in for its annual check — we are here. That conversation never expires.
